When it gets late and I still haven’t come up with a topic for Fat Friday, I always know I can go to my Pinterest boards and find some fat art that I would like to share. I love Catherine Ducreux’s paintings and sculptures; but I know next to nothing about Ducreux as there isn’t…
I don’t like beer or wine. Apparently, when I was a wee tot, I loved beer. My Dad used to tell me that he couldn’t open a beer without me showing up and telling him, “Want some.” I even have vague memories of liking the taste of beer. Not anymore. Gack. It tastes like dirty…
THIS FAT OLD LADY’S WTF WEDNESDAY – LESSON LEARNED Note to self. Don’t eat a bowl full of peas and mushrooms for lunch. Because the next day … Peas and mushrooms in, peas and mushrooms out. With a lot more force than one might expect. And you know that saying about things coming back tenfold?…
Last week we watched NBC’s One Night Only – the Best of Broadway. It was pretty wonderful. By far the best holiday offering so far (we didn’t make it through 15 minutes of The Grinch musical). What I want to know is, WTF are they feeding these young singers? The voices are amazing. No sign…
For over 300 days in a row, I have faithfully been doing my Duolingo (Spanish) lessons. I have learned a butt load of Spanish. Not enough to actually understand Spanish conversation (mas despacio, por favor) but I feel like I’m making some inroads. For most of these 300+ days I have done 4 lessons a…
I love when I find a (new to me) artist with work centering on fat people. I had about given up on finding any new fat artists; but there was Mr. Gubarev just waiting for me to check out Pinterest! Valentin Gubarev, as you might guess from his name, is from Russia (Gorky – now…
Seriously. I don’t know why, but this memory popped into my head just as I was falling asleep last night. The details are lost to the mists of time – or at least the fog in my fat old lady brain, but I remember the important bits. Like I could have died. Or just been…
We are hoping to retire to my home state of Michigan. Yes, I know it’s: Colder than the nipple on a witch’s titColder than a bucket of penguin shitColder than the hairs on a polar bear’s assColder than the frost on a champagne glass I grew up there. I know. As I have said many…
I was thinking about how I feel about not having opportunities to perform. And then I realized – I’m wrong. The current situation gives you a great opportunity. The theater groups are all calling for digital auditions. How often do you get a chance to work on your audition until it is perfect before the…
Yup. I’m done with Christmas. By that I mean, everything I need to do is done. Presents bought and on their way and cards printed, stuffed and stamped and at the post office. What a relief. I have half a mind to just take down the tree now. But that would break Murphy’s little orange…
