Theater audiences are wonderful. But theater audiences are easily distract – SQUIRREL. They are also easily worried. The thing is, as a performer, you need to be aware of anything that might pull your audience out of the show. Things like: A costume malfunction (it becomes a show about that unzipped fly); Trip hazards (it…

My default in life is to stay at home. This lifestyle works perfectly with my depression and social anxiety. So you would think this whole “shelter in place” thing would be right up my alley. I’m fine when I’m choosing to stay at home – but tell me I HAVE to stay at home ……

Some of the studies I see are just so fucking obvious, I have to wonder why did we need a study about this? There’s this one: Appearance-related teasing and substance use during early adolescence. https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2020-08995-001 Can you guess what they found? As you all social distance (what I call living my best life), you have lots of time to catch up on your small screen watching. Since we work from home, COVID-19 hasn’t cramped our style (or lack thereof) much at all. I did cancel my teeth cleaning appointment. I just didn’t think it was a…

I know, for myself, sometimes, I just get down on myself for being fat. Most of the time, I accept myself and love who I am. Even in the face of all the fatphobia, fat discrimination, and anti-fat rhetoric out there. But you know, we all have those days when it all gets to you.…

My parents divorced when I was around 6 years old. I don’t remember problems between them, but my sister, who is 5 years older than me, says they fought – a lot. My Dad was a free-wheeling, fun-loving kind of guy, who would play hide and seek with us and the neighbor kids; take me…

First, before anyone gets their panties in a twist, this is not about politics.  This is about our government as a whole. The news keeps telling us that we are in the middle of a pandemic because of COVID-19. Okay. But what I am also seeing is the inability (at least in the US) for…
