THIS FAT OLD LADY’S ME MONDAY – HAVEN’T DONE THIS IN A LONG TIME

Well, this past Saturday was the engagement party of my friend Chris Fernandez and his wonderful fiancé Darrick Wingfield and I had to go.

Believe it or not, I have some social anxiety issues which can prevent me from wandering out into the world.  Booze used to grease those wheels for me, but I no longer drink.  (It sometimes get to the point where the morning after makes the partying not worth it.)

Anyhow, Chris had asked me to sing with him – so I HAD to go to the party.  (I really wanted to but, oh, the temptation to make excuses is strong in this one.)

So for the first time in a loooooooong ass time, I got into the full drag!

As RuPaul says, “We’re all born naked and the rest is drag.”

The makeup, the decision about what to wear, what jewelry to add (mustn’t forget the earbobs), finding shoes that will work … Lord (TIDBI) this is a lot of work.

But I did it.  I did it because I wanted to be there to celebrate Chris and Darrick, and because I didn’t want to scare any little children in the process.

So here it is, y’all – the full drag:

  1. Cute dress, too – what’s not to like about going to a party AND getting to trill a tune? Glad you had a good
    time.

Have a question for you: you mentioned having lived in the Beachwood Canyon area in LA. Do you by
chance have relatives who live in Beachwood? I knew a family called Cotter years ago (their daughter was
in the chorus of a Gilbert & Sullivan company that I sang with) and they lived way up on Beachwood. It’s
not that common a name, so I thought I;d ask.

And hey – let’s hope you go to LOTS more parties – given the state of the world, we ALL need a really good
    party.

  2. No relatives in California at all. However, there is a Cotter family, in the “biz” – I see the name from time to time. But not related to me (that I know of). It’s an Irish name.
