I didn’t have any new studies or articles or blogs to base my Fat Friday post on, so I did a search “Fat News”. I figured, why not?  I might get lucky. And I did! This is an old story (dates back to August 30, 2017), but it’s a winner. Little girl’s response to someone…

I know, old joke.  But I’m old.  Almost as old as that joke! I remember the first time my back actually went out. It was Christmas day.  I was living with my Grandma Harris, and she was not at home – she had gone over to Uncle Bob and Aunt Joyce’s house.  Later, we would…

First, let me qualify. I KNOW this does not apply to all CIS hetero men, but that’s whom my experience has been with. But why-o-why-o-why-o, do some men feel the need to send women messages, out of the blue and unsolicited, stating they want to have a relationship? WTF? You don’t know me. You haven’t…

I like kids.  I especially like theater kids. Well, most of them, anyhow. Kids working with adults are in a very different position than kids working in a kid show.  They can feel isolated or ignored or infantilized.  I try to include them, listen to them, and give them the proper respect a fellow performer…

It’s summer and for this fat old Michigan girl, that means fresh fruit and lots of it. So for desserts I have been making fruity dishes. First I made a very simple blueberry cobbler. Very good – and you can’t get much simpler than cooking with Bisquick. BLUEBERRY COBBLER 6 T butter, melted 1…

Doing the News Roundup for the NAAFA Newsletter (which is free, y’all, and you can subscribe by going to the NAAFA.org website), I read an interview with Ingrid R. Pipes. Today is the funeral for my brother James. James was diagnosed with Stage IV prostate cancer eight years ago. As you probably realize, eight year survival from any Stage IV cancer is not expected; but James was, if nothing else, a fighter. Because of the pandemic, I can’t be there with family to pay my…

OMG (TIDBI –(That I Don’t Believe In”). We got lightning and thunder and rain in August! The hills are alive with wildfires. We have a record-breaking heatwave. PG&E keeps threatening to turn the power off. And I got puking cats.  Or rather, one puking cat. Why does Leo hate me? The other night, I had…

When you are onstage you are at the mercy of whatever you are wearing or using. Glued on facial hair comes unstuck, wigs come loose, bits of costumes fall off or rip or pop open, props break or go missing – all of it can go haywire on you without a moments’ notice. And there…

Last night I made a very tasty dinner.  Italian Meatball Hoagie Braids. Sounds good, right? Tasted great. However, making it became an adventure. First, I have learned from sad experience, that you do not try to bake crescent roll dough on a bare cookie sheet.  I don’t care how much you grease it.  Those fuckers…
