THIS FAT OLD LADY’S FAT FRIDAY – IT IS NOT A LIFESTYLE – IT’S A FUCKING DIET

It’s that time of year again.

Seems like everyone is thinking of starting a diet – oh, wait, not a diet – a lifestyle change.

I have news for you, folks.

If it involves calorie reduction, calorie restrictions, counting calories or points or whatever – IT’S A FUCKING DIET!

It is not a lifestyle change.

It is not sustainable.

And the science says, you will most likely not be able to keep any weight loss off.

However, while it may not be a lifestyle, it will be life changing.

You’ll fuck up your metabolism (which, if you’re fat, is probably already pretty efficient).

You’ll probably blame yourself for the failure of the diet, and all the emotional baggage and psychological damage that goes with that.

Your relationship with food will be a bit more (or a lot more) disordered.

And you will most likely end up as fat or fatter than you started.

Do yourself a favor.

Just don’t.

You want to make healthier food choices?

Go for it!

You want to add more movement into your life?

Great!

Those can be lifestyle changes.

But don’t kid yourself and think WW (or any other diet) is a lifestyle or that it works.

If it fucking worked, it wouldn’t still be around, and their business model certainly wouldn’t depend on repeat customers!

You still want to diet?

Hey, it’s your body.  You do you.  Just make it an informed decision and know what you are getting into, what the probable results are, and who is to blame when it doesn’t lead to long term significant weight loss.  (Hint – it’s not you.)
