THIS FAT OLD LADY’S FAT FRIDAY – THE BENEFITS OF BEING AN OLD FAT OLD LADY

I just read a very good post by My Fat Friend.

Fat shaming

She talks about being at a party and talking to someone who, at first, seems interested in the topic of fat shaming and fat injustice.

Then the person says the solution is to “just lose weight”.

Wow.

In the moment, My Fat Friend keeps her cool.

One of the benefits of being a Fat OLD Lady is I no longer feel the social pressure to keep my cool.

Nope.

You want to open your mouth and loose that kind of special blend of stupidity and bigotry on me – you may not know it, but you are having a near death experience.

On the other hand – people tend not to say that kind of thing to me.

I attribute it to the fact that I am a Fat OLD Lady.

I may be wrong, it may also because I can be a kind of scary Fat Old Lady.

I am large and confident and can deliver a “look” that will freeze most people to their marrow.

Add that to the fact that people are starting to accept that old people often feel released from social norms and just might go aggressive on your ass.

We’re not our grandparent or parent’s kind of old people.

We are Boomer old people.

We are a special kind of entitled; but mostly, we feel entitled to not put up with your shit.

Also, being a Fat OLD Lady, I think most people realize that as to losing weight – that ship has sailed.

You get to a certain age and people start to accept that you are who you are.

Things aren’t going to be changing between now and the shaking off of this mortal coil.

So they save their golden bits of wisdom for the younger folks – you know, the folks who still have a chance to turn their lives around.

Well guess what?

Fuck that.  Fuck you.  And Fuck your fat shaming bigotry.

  1. Your image is being used by a troll on the York After Dark page on Facebook. The persona is Doris Lipscomb. Thought you should know this… they are not quite representative of your persona.

    • Thank you so much Elizabeth. I think the name being used is that of a deceased woman. Obviously a fine person behind this. I have reported the profile to FaceBook. Let’s see what they do about it.
