Remember, your words become you. Be careful of the words you choose to live by.
From the Ugly Conference, here is a list of some of my personal “words to live by”:
You can’t scare me, I work with attorneys.
You can’t embarrass me.
Words matter.
I am not a problem to be fixed.
It’s none of your business who someone is sleeping with, who they worship, how they identify.
It’s not always about you.
I don’t need you to like me. I don’t like everyone. I don’t expect you to.
Don’t tell me who I am.
Don’t tell me who to be.
Don’t tell me to smile.
Don’t tell me what I should be doing with my life.
This goes in the big box in my head marked “not my problem”.
My body, my rules.
My life, my rules.
How about you just worry about you.
