My birthday happened.
It was a good day.
I was so touched by all the greetings and good wishes by all of my friends and family.
At my (advanced) age, birthdays are not really about receiving gifts. But my friends Storm and Kristopher got me a Kindle book I had been wanting, (so great, I love books, and I love Kindle books because they don’t take up any space in our already cluttered house); and invited me to tag along on their trip to the Monterey Aquarium (couldn’t go, this fat old lady’s gots to work to make the moneys to feeds the cats).
And my cousin Alice (who, though not technically related to me, I consider my 3rd sister), sent me a surprise. Alice was so concerned that I would think the gift “weird”. Even though we all know that I have a healthy heaping helping of weird in my DNA already.
She need not have worried.
Her gift made me cry. It was so perfect.
When I moved from Michigan to Los Angeles, I had a lot of my mother and grandmother’s costume jewelry. Unfortunately, it was stolen from my car. I still have a few pieces though, which I love.
Alice sent me two jewelry travel cases full of wonderful costume jewelry she had acquired in her many yard sale forays!
Not only do I love the jewelry itself, but I am so touched by the time and love that went into her gift to me – that is what makes this wonderful gift so precious.
It made the happy run down my face.
