I subscribe to a few recipe email sites. They send me recipes, I look at them, and if I think they look yummy and/or worth the time and effort, I type them into my (unreasonably large) recipe database.
What you don’t want to see as an e-mail header –
SOUTHERN SURPRISE SOUP
Um.
So now, I want/need to know – what’s the surprise.
Or do I?
Possum? Squirrel? Road Kill?
What could it be?
I open the e-mail, and it turns out the real name of the recipe is Southern Vegetable Soup. Not as click-baitable or alarming as Southern Surprise Soup.
Then I look at the photo – and there’s the surprise, as far as I’m concerned, and it’s nasty.
Okra.
Okra floating in a sea of red and other more edible vegetables.
You should know that okra translates to “snot with seeds”.
Surprise, indeed.
