Some of you have expressed concern as I seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth – or at least the face of the Internet.
I was in Michigan.
I went to Michigan for the wedding of my niece Hailee.
I ended up not attending the wedding because I had what seemed like endless diarrhea for almost the entire trip. I have no idea what caused it; it still has not gone away (although it is a little bit better). And yes, I know I should call the doctor; but I just don’t have the emotional, physical or mental wherewithal to deal with it right now. Just knowing I am a few steps from a toilet is a wonderful thing.
I did get to spend time with family. And that was so nice. With the help of Lomotil and Imodium, I was able to do basically one activity a day – then scurry back (okay, slouch back) to my hotel room and the safety of a nearby toilet.
My trip got extended (involuntarily) by one day – when my flight was delayed for 2 hours (at least, meaning I would miss my connection to San Jose); and I ended up with a forced sleep over at the Detroit Airport Westin.
I hope to write a lot about this trip over the next week or so.
There is plenty to say – both good and bad.
Nobody was kicked off a flight – so I presume everyone kept their masks on. I wish that was true in the airport proper as well; but sadly I saw quite a few mask lapses.
And I must admit that I indulged myself with the no mask requirements of Michigan. It felt like a visit back to normal. But of course, we are still a long way from normal.
Anyhow, instead of getting back home at around 7:30 pm on August 9th; I finally made it to San Jose at 11:40 pm on August 10th and I am so grateful to be home.
Home with the cats and with my husband who was so supportive during this trip (he is officially the king of the snowman hug emoji).

It is always good to take a trip to see family and Michigan. Unfortunately, the other frequent “trips” not so good. Hope the frequent trips are over and you are feeling better.
Still dealing with the frequent “trips”. The end of trip stress wiped out all the getting better I had been doing. But now that I’m home and getting back into my routine, I’m hopeful that all will soon be well!
