THIS FAT OLD LADY’S FAT FRIDAY – THANK YOU PINTEREST – NOW WHO’S NEXT?

Pinterest (home of my many boards on Fat Art, Fat Peeps, Fat Merfolk, etc.) has announced it will no longer allow ads promoting weight loss.  It will not allow ads with testimonials about weight loss or weight loss products or ads referencing BMI (Body Mass Index) or similar indexes [sic].

Pinterest will allow ads promoting healthy lifestyles, habits or fitness services and products provided they do not focus on weight loss.

Pinterest worked with the National Eating Disorders Association in developing the new policy.

Since 2015 Pinterest has worked to remove pro-eating-disorder content on its site by blocking searches and redirecting the users to expert organizations.

Well done Pinterest.  I hope other major internet platforms are paying attention.
