When he was little, my (little) brother Chick could not (or would not) say cucumber.

He pronounced it cumbugger.

I must clarify – that is pronounced “cūm-bugger” not “cŭm-bugger” (which is, admittedly hilarious – but not, in this instance, accurate).

It was funny (to me) then.

It is still funny (to me) now.

So if I want some of a certain zucchini-like (but definitely NOT zucchini, because if it was zucchini I would definitely not be wanting anything to do with it) veggie, don’t be surprised when I say –

Please pass the cūmbuggers!
