Both of my sisters are really good cooks. The kind of cooks who can make everything from scratch. The kind of cooks who can make a meal out of whatever is at hand in the kitchen.
That is so not me.
I can cook – as in I can follow a recipe. I can even improvise on a recipe when I don’t have an ingredient – but that is the extent of my cooking ability. When I first got married, my husband called me the Hamburger Helper Queen. Then I moved on to being the Bisquick Queen. Lately, I’ve been the Frozen Entrée Queen. But there is only so much frozen glop you can stand each week, so back to my personal database of recipes.
My husband loves roast beef. I like it okay, but it is generally a pain in the butt to make.
Problem now solved.
I tried a recipe I found, and not only was it easy, it was very tasty too.
First (and I forgot this part, which means I have some soaking and scrubbing to do), spray your crock pot with PAM. I learned that this makes clean up a lot easier.
Then, put a 3-4 pound chuck roast in the crockpot.
In a separate bowl, whisk together until smooth: 1 cup water, 1 envelope Italian dressing mix, 1 envelope Ranch dressing mix, and 1 envelope Brown Gravy mix.
Pour the mixture over your roast.
Set the crockpot on low, cover, and go about your life. In 8 hours, you will have roast beef.
That’s it.
The meat is so tender and juicy, and delicious.
This is my kind of recipe, easy, easy, easy and the results are great. Makes me look like I can cook.
