THIS FAT OLD LADY IS GETTING POKED

And not in a fun way.

I’m having a bone marrow test done.

Most people’s first reaction is to grimace fiercely like they are in terrible pain, and make some kind of statement like “OH NO!!!”

My question to them is, “Have you ever had a bone marrow test?”

So far, the unanimous response is, “No.”

And I tell them, “Then shut the fuck up.”

If you’ve never experienced first hand or even known somebody who has experienced what it’s like to have a bone marrow test then, I repeat:

SHUT THE FUCK UP.

I’m worried enough, okay?

However, I’m not quite as worried as I was when I found out there is IV sedation available.

Oh boy.  I love me some IV sedation.  Give me IV sedation and you can put my panties on my head and post the photo on FaceBook.  I do NOT care – just pump me full of the sleepy juice.

So this was happening this Monday, except (and God (TIDBI) save me, why is there ALWAYS an “except”?) – the CT scan machine at the hospital is broken; and they don’t know if it’ll be fixed by Monday.

So, here’s the deal, if the machine is working they will call me by 7 a.m. Monday morning to get my (not so) happy fat old lady ass to the hospital and all will proceed as previously scheduled.

If the machine is not working, I will have the procedure on the following Friday.

So twice the worrying for one procedure.

Also keep your eyes peeled for that FaceBook photo.

  1. Gee- there’s nothing like old age for some fun stuff, now is there? I was told when I had fluid drained from my right lung (3 years ago), that said draining was “just a little bit less unpleasant” than a bone marrow test, and yeah – I opted for the comfort of anaesthesia; what a boon! So – good luck on this – am hopeful the machine is fixed & you can get it overwith soonest.

Break a leg (or not – do you REALLY want a cast on your leg in August?????)

    • Thanks for the good wishes. No I don’t want a cast in August, but I do want whatever they do for a total knee replacement and the sooner the better!
