THIS FAT OLD LADY GETS TOOK

First, let me be clear. New Year Resolutions SUCK.

I made a “resolution” (okay, just a thing I promised I would try) this year, to figure out what I was spending money on.  I even made an Excel spreadsheet, because sometimes, I am organized as shit like that.

I pretty much run everything through my Amazon credit card because you get points and at the end of the year, I redeem all those points to pay for Christmas presents I purchase through Amazon!  It really, really works folks.

So I open my January and February statements, and start entering what I spent money on (gas, groceries, dining out, books, health, cats (always good to know, to the penny, how much you love your animals), etc.

I start seeing charges for “Prime Video Channel”.

WTF?

I have Prime but the only digital purchases we make are for Kindle (and because I use BookBub, I never pay more than $2.99 for a book).

So what is going on?

I look at my account – nope.  No digital purchases, except Kindle books.

I try using “Help” (Hah – you know that should be called “No Help What-so-fucking-ever”.)

I finally find a phone number I can call, and after a lot of listening to shit I don’t want, and a lot of pushing numbers, I finally get to a real person at Amazon.  Yay!

She tells me that these charges are to my account through another Amazon account (!).

Say what?

The Amazon rep tells me it’s a woman’s name on the other account.  And no, she won’t tell me the name.

She also tells me that I have to call Chase Bank and put in disputes of the charges and THEN (and only then) Amazon will block this other account from charging to my account.

Excuse me?  You KNOW someone is charging videos to my account, but you can’t put an immediate block on that?  Seriously?

So I call Chase and they are excellent.  They look through all my old statements and determine that these shenanigans started in September 2024.  And they will credit them all off my account.  (Thank you!)

This is not grand larceny, mind you – it’s about $126 in charges in total.

And now they have to CANCEL MY CREDIT CARD and issue a new one, which means I will have to utilize my “side” card (much like having a side chick, but in the form of a credit card); and when I EVENTUALLY get my new card (this can take weeks), I’m going to have to change ALL my autopayments to the new card.  I keep a running list, but still, this is a major pain in the ass – and trust me, I know from whence I speak.  I am a big fan of autopay.

And all of that could be avoided if Amazon would just block this other account from charging videos to my account.

Thanks a butt-load Jeff Bezos

Change “doesn’t need” to “can’t” and it’s more accurate.
