THIS FAT OLD LADY’S WHAT YOU DOING TUESDAY – SWEATING IN THE POOL

First off, who knew you could sweat in a swimming pool?  Not me.

I recently joined the YMCA and on Monday I did my first class there – AquaFlex.

It is designed to minimize stress on the joints and improve flexibility. Full body strength building exercises with emphasis on balance and range of motion.  It is taught in the shallow pool – which is also the “warm” pool – 89 degrees. 

So it’s a bunch of old ladies in the shallow pool (which is only 4 feet deep – so a lot of me is above the water line when standing.  We use pool noodles and water weights and the skinny lady who teaches it works our fat old lady asses OFF. 

Holy crap! 

I thought I would be able to go to another class after this.

HA!

Not happening.  My legs are on wibble-wobble alert, my back is telling me, “WTF are you up to now”, and my arms are having physical therapy flashbacks. 

After my upcoming trip to California , I may try doing the class in the deep pool (for lap swimming) which is, as previously stated, deeper and also colder.

It was fun and I made it through the entire class (a lot of ladies dropped out along the way). 

Looking forward to being back in that pool – SWEATING!
