THIS FAT OLD LADY’S MOOSE MONDAY – I CAN’T HELP MYSELF

I sincerely apologize, but let’s face it, I am literally a crazy cat (fat old) lady.  And we have a new-to-us cat, so my world currently revolves around the cuteness, sweetness, and wonder that is Moose (aka Sweet-a-moose; Muesli; Sir Moose-a-lot).

Come on, who could resist this punim?

We have only had him for 8 days and he has made the adjustment to our house and other two cats so well.

He even has learned how to navigate through life, sharing a house with the ever crabby, hissy and growly Berta, the bitchiest cat ever.

He and Murphy are not yet fast friends, but they are like two bros checking each other out edging towards, what I am sure will end up being, total bromance.

We are still working out the best ways of feeding our three fuzz-buckets.  Not the easiest, since Berta has huge food insecurity and believes all things food should go in her mouth; and she objects violently when she is told some foods are not for her.  Because of her diabetes we are wary of free-feeding her and she can only have her DM food.

But Moose is a smart little guy.  When he wants to nosh on some dry food – he thumps the cabinet door where Murphy’s dry food is stored.  Problem solved. At least when we’re home – when we have to be away, we’ll have to figure out something else.

Moose does not sleep with us – or at least he doesn’t sleep in any bed I’m sleeping in because Berta believes that it is her duty to sleep with me and protect me (well, really protect HER bed) from all interlopers.  So if I sleep in another room, Berta comes with me and Moose can and will visit my husband periodically throughout the night.

And while Moose enjoys all of the house (especially the windows which are at the perfect level for bird and small rodent viewing) and the two cat trees we have, Moose has claimed the back of the living roomsofa as his special spot.  He can curl up and look out the window which opens onto our sun porch and thus gives him a view of the whole back yard.

And Moose (seems to) loves us.  He now comes to visit us wherever we are sitting to get as many pets as we are willing to dole out.  He does not like to be picked up or held, but he will snuggle up with husband dear on the family room sofa, or get on the arm of a chair we are sitting in, and today, Moose actually climbed into husband dear’s lap.

Needless to say, I am sooooooo jealous.

And of course, my phone is loaded with Moose pictures.  But I’ll spare you – unless I run into you in person then I suggest you run away and save yourself.
