THIS FAT OLD LADY’S WHAT YOU COOKING TUESDAY – IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE FRUIT

I am a big fan of cobbler.  Easy to make, great dessert – with or without ice cream.  (But obviously better with).

And almost all cobblers are made with fruit – so you can give yourself a little pat on the back for being all healthy and shit.

But then I found a recipe.

A cobbler without fruit.

A cobbler with CHOCOLATE!!!!!

I have waited far too long without trying this recipe.

It is all I had hoped for – and more.

Easy as any cobbler recipe – but comes out tasting like a brownie!

I’ll admit, it looks a little – uh – “used” but I assure you it’s great – and even better warm with ice cream.

CHOCOLATE COBBLER

Cobbler Layer

1 C butter            1 ¼ C sugar         1 ½ C self-rising flour      1 t vanilla             ¾ C milk

Chocolate Layer

1 C sugar              6 T cocoa powder            2 C boiling water

Preheat 350°

In 9×13 glass baking dish, melt the butter in the oven for 5 minutes.

In bowl, mix together 1 ¼ C sugar, flour, vanilla and milk.

Once butter is melted, pour batter (mine was too thick to pour – I spooned) over butter. DO NOT STIR!!

In separate bowl, mix together 1 C sugar and cocoa powder.  Sprinkle mixture on top of batter.  DO NOT STIR!!!!

Pour boiling water on top. DO NOT STIR!!!

Bake 40-45 minutes.  Serve warm

Self Rising Flour: Substitute for each cup of self-rising flour, place 1 ½ t baking powder and ½ salt in a measuring cup.  Add flour to measure 1 C

A lot tastier than it looks!
