THIS FAT OLD LADY’S THEATER TUESDAY – IF YOU MISSED IT – YOU MISSED IT

I am thrilled to say that I got through Sunday’s performance in SBMT’s concert Broadway in Love with my reputation intact.  All words were performed correctly – for the first time since we put down the sheet music, I might add.  All notes were sung correctly too. Whew.

And it was a pure joy to stand onstage and sing with the delightful Walter Maes.

The talent brought together for this concert was stunning.  Many “old” faces and many that were totally new to me.

I can’t describe the thrill, joy and terror of being once again before a live audience.  A much needed reminder of why I put myself through the stress and worry that accompanies live performances.

I had been feeling that my fat old lady brain was no longer up to retaining lyrics – but I then realized that we only had a couple in-person rehearsals.  I need those in-person rehearsals to solidify the performance in my brain and body.  So I’m feeling a little less apprehensive about continuing to perform theater at my (advanced and advancing) age.

So I leave the Bay Area theater community with fond memories and wonderful friends.

Look out Michigan, here I come.

  1. Oh, I SO envy you! It’s been dog’s years since I set foot on a stage, and reading the above made me realize
how very much I miss it. Not a lotta work for old semi-crips, though, so I’ll just be thrilled to hear you brought
off your part in the concert brilliantly — as everyone knew you would! And while you’re thinking about being so “old”: Angela Lansbury is NINETY-SIX & still treading the boards on occasion, so it ain’t over yet.
