THIS FAT OLD LADY’S WHAT YOU READING TUESDAY – A MINUTE TO MIDNIGHT

That’s the title of the book – but the title of this blog post should be a minute to 2 a.m. because that’s when I finally shut down the computer to go to bed and suddenly remembered I hadn’t done a blog post for Tuesday; and quite honestly, I decided, fuck it, it’ll just have to wait until tomorrow. And so it has.

I haven’t read a lot of David Baldacci’s books, but the ones I have read I have loved.  He is a master of action storytelling.

Once again, I’m jumping in at Book 2 of a series, and it was fine.  This could be a stand alone, easily – except for a bit of a cliff hanger at the end (something I don’t like; and that includes this time – just wrap up the story you’re telling – don’t use the end of one book to sell your next book – especially when you are as well-established a writer as Baldacci).

The characters are wonderful and the two plot lines are both equally compelling and will keep you guessing right to the end.

It’s a story of a present day serial killer and a case that has been cold for 20 years.  A vacationing FBI agent seems to have stirred up quite a hornet’s nest in a small sleepy Southern town of her youth.

So many characters, all of whom, it seems could be involved with either or both cases.

And the cliffhanger isn’t too egregious – just a little disappointing.

  1. Have you read Baldacci’s “Memory Man” novels? Terrific main character, good, twisty stories. I do recall
reading “A Minute To Midnight” & really enjoying it. Always feel good about buying on of his because of the
contributions he makes to a literacy fund.
